Ready to Interview in 2026? Part II

man and woman at desk interviewing

This is the second entry in a three-part series on interviewing in 2026.

1. AI-era Questions You Will Be Asked

👉 Be ready for:

  • “How do you use AI in your work?”
  • “When would you not use AI?”
  • “How do you check AI output for accuracy?”
  • “What’s something AI can’t replace in your role?”

✅ Key tip: They’re not testing tools — they’re testing judgment.

2. Research Smarter

❌Skip memorizing the entire company site. Instead prep:

  • The company’s core problem
  • How do they make money
  • One recent change (product, funding, leadership, market)
  • Where your role directly impacts outcomes
  • Be able to finish this sentence: 👉“This role matters because…”

3. Behavioral Prep: Fewer Stories, Deeper Mastery

Instead of weak examples, prep strong stories you can adapt.

âś…Your 5 stories should cover:

  • Conflict or pushback
  • Failure or mistake
  • Ambiguity
  • Leadership or ownership

👉 Reuse them intelligently.

4. Ask Sharper Questions (this matters more than ever)

❌Bad 2026 question:

  • “Can I work from home?”

âś… Good 2026 questions:

  • “What does success look like in the first 90 days?”
  • “What’s the biggest challenge someone in this role will face?”
  • “What made the last person successful — or unsuccessful?”

👉 Don’t forget that first impressions are everything!
